FairCare Project - Newsletter 1

Welcome to FairCare!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our FairCare Project in partnership with VSBI (Germany), COOSS (Italy), Skepelendry (Cyprus), SEITuatha (Ireland) and PeopleFirst (Hungary) and 3IN Social (Spain). You can find a description of each partner at the end of this newsletter.

Our Mission: FairCare aims to enhance the care and support systems for people with disabilities, elders, and their caregivers, professionals or not, addressing the growing challenges highlighted in the 2021 Long Term Care Report.

Why: Increasing demographic shifts call for urgent reforms in care systems. People in need of care deserve the right to make their own choices and participate actively in society. Informal caregivers often lack the skills and support necessary for their demanding roles.

Goals:

  1. Methodology providing a full theoretical background on approaches to long term care in the different countries involved, a needs analysis amongst the three target groups and methodological approaches e.g., peer-to-peer learning

  2. Develop an innovative training course focusing on self-determination in long-term care which will be implemented in our local communities.

  3. Foster cooperation amongst people in care, their families, and professional caregivers.

Kick-Off Meeting Recap

In early January, we gathered in Corbera de Llobregat/Barcelona, for a productive kick-off meeting, where we connected with local organizations like La Xarxa de Cura Digna and Clara Ser Gran. Our discussions set a strong foundation for our project, we decided on the logo and distribution of tasks.

Next Steps: We will continue collaborating remotely, with monthly online meetings. Our next in-person gathering is scheduled for May in Ireland!
